COVID & Food Vouchers

Supporting the Community Through Essential Food Support

Community Food Outreach

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on the tourism-dependent economy of Anguilla. With tourism being a significant source of income for many Anguillian families, the pandemic led to widespread economic hardship and uncertainty. To help alleviate some of the burden faced by the community, we launched an initiative to provide Anguillian citizens with food vouchers for food and other essentials, supporting their families during this challenging time.

Through this food voucher program, the Anguilla Initiative raised over $30,000 to support hundreds of families’ access to necessary food staples and essentials. The vouchers could be used to purchase a variety of items, including groceries, hygiene products, and other basic necessities. This initiative not only provided immediate relief but also helped support local businesses by encouraging spending within the community.

As we navigated through the pandemic, the food voucher program became a lifeline for many families, offering a sense of stability and hope amid the uncertainty. We worked closely with the Government’s Department of Social Development, businesses, and generous donors to distribute the vouchers and ensure that aid reached those in need efficiently and effectively.
